Film Planning #3

My group member and I finally fixed some editing issues where the screen will turn black for a long period of time in between the transition from the home to the school. We also added voiceovers to increase the dialogue for the main protagonist. Here are some of the issues we noticed and attempted to fix: For starters, we noticed that the story is not being portrayed that well and an average viewer may not even notice that the film is about a new student who is worried about going to a new school. To fix this we added more dialogue and voiceovers to emphasize that the student "Christina" is nervous as we wanted to give her more emotion. This is so the audience can relate to our character better and so we can grasp the attention of a specific teen audience.

Creating our Logo

In the process of creating our logo, a couple renditions came up. It was hard to incorporate a lightning bolt into our logo since I haven't had much experience creating a logo. I had a bunch of ideas, but I wasn't sure how I could execute It since I didn't have the right software to create my original idea. After making basic logos I was trying to find a way to make it dynamic as I thought that would be an interesting concept. But at last, I wasn't able to successfully make the logo I had in mind but the final logo I came up with is pretty good.  Here is an example of one of my first idea I found that the icon at the top wasn't fitting for our logo, but I did decide to keep the color palate and find a different icon.  Here is the second idea for the logo. I liked it but the colors were better on the first logo, but the lightning bolt fit better, and I was leading with this idea but I found that it was too plain.  Lastly, I came up with this. The icon fits better an...

Film Session #1

M  y group and I began recording our film in our school Piper High School. I was chosen to be the main protagonist of the film  Michael was chosen to film. He decided to use a trucking shot in some moving scenes to display both the character and the scene in the background to give the audience a brief understanding of this new setting in the film.  We used an establishing shot of the school to introduce the setting of the film and began the narrative of our film.

Film Changes

Due to some complications within my group, another teammate and I made the decision to slit from the group we were working with. We decided to work on our own film that we started and split our responsibilities between the two of us. Luckily my teammate and I were the only ones that worked on the film which made it easy to claim it as ours and split up the group fairly. Responsibility wise my teammate and I created a list that evenly splits up the work and responsibilities. We took into account our strengths and assigned roles that are easily catered to us.  Michael Yousif: ·         Create Script ·         Edit film ·         Record Film ·         Choose lighting and camera movements   Cristina Mayfield: ·         Main protagonist of film ·         Edit Film · ...

Film Planning #2

Our assignment for today was to apply our knowledge on mise en scene to our movie. We added foley sound effects and fitting music for the genre of our film. We then decided on color pallets. As the main character wakes up we see her room is extremely colorful but the outfit she puts on is completely black. We did this to show that on the inside she is a truly fun and colorful person, but the black portrays how scared she is for her first day of school and she feels that she has to force herself to fit in and make an effort to do so.

Film Planning #1

Today my group and I decided to pick the wardrobe for our opening film. We decided that because the main character goes to high school and the majority of the film takes place in high school it's only right she wears something fitting for high school. At the beginning of the film, we decided to fit her in pajamas as she's getting out of bed and from then on she gets ready in her outfit for school.

Film Pitch Feedback

Our assignment for today was to hear another group's film idea and get them to sell us their movie and vice versa. The group that we pitched to gave us useful and informative feedback and also asked questions like:  What is the setting for the opening of your film?  The setting will be at Christinas' house and part of the C building.  They gave us advice such as: Be sure to wear consistent clothing throughout the film so it doesn't seem as if time passed.
